1.) Branding
As a graphic designer, the concept of branding is familiar to me. However, I often come up against people who (understandably) are not as intimate with the idea. I think the language of "brand or be branded" carries a lot of truth, and is a crucial aspect of an artist's identity.
2.) Eviction Blockade
Physical violence and showings of force were instrumental in colonization and the very concept of land ownership. The police are used to enforce ownership of property, and will physically remove people from land they don't "own." An eviction blockade flips this same violence, and responds to historical and continued oppression, manipulation, and discrimination. It utilizes the community to prevent injustice, and harnesses the power of collective action.
3.) Memes
While memes are a vessel of comedy and irony, they are also a vessel for promotion and change. Memes, like most art, reflect the nature of the times more than they influence it. However, the strength of memes lies in their ability to replicate and share themselves. Obviously memes permeate through the communities that appreciate them rapidly. What interests me is when those memes reach the fringes of those communities and beyond. A truly powerful meme can cause action in people far beyond the initial scope, and influence the thoughts and minds of people who may never considered certain topics.
